I launched CMCD, the first royalty-free stock image library, in 1994, with a sample disc bundled with every Apple CPU shipped in the US. CMCD pioneered royalty-free images shot on white backgrounds. Within months after our launch, every stock house was creating a version of our concept for their library. The library received the MacWorld Award and IDSA Gold for product design in 1994— the industry’s highest honors at the time.
